40th anniversary celebration of Museum Railway Association

Jokioinen Museum Railway is operated by the Museum Railway Association, established in 1971 with the name  Museum Railway Forssa-Humppila Association. The 40th anniversary of the association starts with public ceremonies at Minkiö station. The celebration day will provide much to see and experience for all people interested in old railway and vintage vehicles.

Two steam trains are in traffic during the celebration day. Also a Porter steam locomotive -hauled park train will carry people at Minkiö station and depot area.

The celebration train will be a combination of rolling stock from the early years of the association. The train will be hauled by the steam locomotive number 5 of former Hyvinkää-Karkkila railway.

Handcars and veteran automobiles

The program of the day includes eg. hand car rides at Minkiö depot and shows of old time railway work practicies. Also guided tours in rolling stock sheds and railway workshop are in program. On that day also a book of the history of the association will be published.

The opening Sunday of Museum Railway traffic season has also traditionally been a rally for veteran cars. Even this season will be opened more ceremonially than usual, all vintage cars are also welcome again!
