Traffic season 2012 of Jokioinen Museum Railway started on Saturday May 19. with first charter train. Steam locomotive number 5 Orion hauled train consisted of seven passenger carriages. At first the empty train ran from Minkiö to Jokioinen, where group of 181 persons came onboard.
Steam locomotives of Jokioinen Museum Railway are coming back to life after winter hibernation. At Sunday May 13. former Jokioinen railway locomotive number 5 Orion was warmed up to its working pressure. Some maintenance and test runs were performed on Monday and the locomotive was found to be ready for summer traffic and the first charter train next weekend. Also steam engines HKR5 and LWR6 were prepared for official inspection of their steam boilers.

A group of active volunteers visited Jokioinen Museum Railway in the first weekend of May. The sixteen leaders of scout troop Tampereen Kotkat (Tampere Eagles) participated to the track maintenance and carried out their own planning sessions which were held on the railway carriage.
During last weekend of April, museum railway volunteers did a lot of maintenance for steam locomotives. Former Hyvinkää-Karkkila railway locomotive number 5 was prepared for official inspection of its steam boiler. Also some cleaning and paintwork was done.
Second voluntary weekend for junior museum railway fans took place in the end of April. At this time ten boys from seven to fifteen years of age enjoyed a weekend full of railroading, eating and light voluntary work tasks. Altough weather was rather cold, everyone seemed to be happy with many new friends.
