The TU4 diesel hydraulic locomotive arrived at Jokioinen Museum Railway on Thursday October 29 after being fully rebuilt in Estonia. Testing of locomotive started immediately after the locomotive was crane lifted on rails and continued the following day. The locomotive has already been running to Humppila several times both hauling a train and as a single locomotive.

After two days of tests the four axle locomotive with a 290 horse power Scania engine is really showing its real skin. The trucks of the TU4 locomotive are very well designed and the locomotive is running really well with speeds up to 50 km/h. The locomotive is also quite easy to operate.

The locomotive built in 1970 in ex Soviet Union has been fully overhauled at the ship yard of Baltic Marine Group in Tallinn. Some additions and adjustments will be still added to the locomotive at the Jokioinen Museum Railway. For example a hand brake and a new cab heating system will be built and bearings of one axle will be replaced.
