On Saturday 21.8. The Museum Railway celebrates its 50th birthday. Finland's first museum train was run on 21 August 1971 from Forssa to Humppila.
The operations of the Museum Railway Association, which maintains the Jokioinen Museum Railway, are mainly based on voluntary work that has been done for half a century. Thanks to this work of committed enthusiasts, we have been able to preserve a piece of Finnish industrial history, local cultural heritage and, of course, the Jokioinen Railway as a living museum.
If you would like to support our activities and at the same time congratulate the 50th anniversary of the Museum Railway, please donate us. Our bank account is:

Do you want to help Steam Locomotive "Sohvi" to get new water tanks? The steam locomotive "Sohvi", a hard worker on the museum railway, was delivered from the Tampereen Pellava- ja Rautateollisuus Oy's (Tampella) workshop at the end of December 1917. Construction work on the locomotive had already begun during the tsarist rule of Finland, but due to the 1917 strikes Sohvi was delayed and was delivered after Finland got independent. Sohvi made her active career on the Hyvinkää-Karkkila railway, where it hauled trains in 1918-1967. In 1969, the locomotive was moved to Forssa and the idea for the Museum Railway had been born.

In August 1971, Sohvi pulled Finland's first museum train from Forssa to Humppila. This year, Sohvi will have been in museum train traffic for 50 years. In addition, last December came the the age of a respectable 103 years. The old lady is still happy to pull trains.
The lady sometimes also needs care and attention. Sohvi is 103-year-old, her original water tanks are now at the end of their service life and need to be replaced. As this is a museum locomotive and we do not want to change the original look, Sohvi gets a new water tank inside its original tanks. At the same time, the locomotive cab will be restored to its original appearance and Sohvi will receive a new paint finish in the spring. The total price for renovation and alteration work is approximately 25,000 euros.
If you want to help Sohvi to get new water tanks, so that Sohvi can again work hard and pull museum trains in the summer, you have the opportunity to donate money for Sohvi's renovation. Even a small donation will help and bring the renovation project closer to completion.
In addition to individuals, companies and organisatiions can also support the renovation of Sohvi if they wish.
Donations can be directed to the Museum Railway bank account:

We have sad news: this year’s Santa Claus Train has been canceled due to the current Covid-19 situation and related restrictions. Traditionally, Santa's train has had a lot of passengers and at times even a packed atmosphere and for this reason we are not able to guarantee adequate safety clearances. We want to act responsibly and ensure the safety of both our customers and our support staff.
While the cancellation of a traditional and fun event is unfortunate, we are already looking to next year. We will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Museum Railway and if the situation allows, a lot of different events will be held. In addition, Santa's train will steam again in December 2021.

In September, public events and general meetings for up to 50 people can be held indoors and in regionally delimited outdoor spaces if safety can be ensured in accordance with the instructions of Finnish Institute of health and wellfare and the Ministry of Education and Culture. The tightening of restrictions is necessary because the epidemiological situation in Finland has changed in an unfavorable direction and the number of detected COVID-19 cases has increased during August.
As we cannot ensure safety of people in accordance with these instructions the board of the Museum Railway Association has decided to cancel the star light train 2020. The last operation day of Summer 2020 will be the coming Saturday the 29.8.
