Christmas is approaching and it's time again for the traditional Museum Jokioinen Museum Railway Christmas card. The Christmas card was again made by PTJ Koskinen, one of the steam locomotive drivers of the museum railway. Like always, the card is very relevant this year.
In 2022, The Covid pandemic started to be behind us, but the world was drawn into new crises. At Minkiö depot at the heart of the winter, the museum railway's loyal workhorse, the steam locomotive No. 5 built in December 1917 for the former Hyvinkää—Karkkila railway, has nevertheless decided to pull against.
The artist himself explains the starting idea for the card was a strong man train pulling competition in Minkiö last summer. Then he had to get Ukrainian children to have fun of the problem of dictators, finally the grip slipped a littlöe bit. In the background there is Ukrainian-born Ilja Repin's, who also lived in Finland, painting Barge Haulers on the Volga, where enslaved Russians haule a barge on river Volga. Finnish cartoonist Kari once drew a picture based on the same painting of barge haulers in which Eastern European countries were pulling Soviet leaders.

The traditional Santa Claus Train will be runing again on the first weekend of December 3/12 - 4/12. This year the Santa Claus Train pulled by a steam locomotive will run on Saturday, December 3 Between Jokioinen and Minkiö and on Sunday, December 4 between Humppila and Minkiö. The round trip takes about an hour and lets you to enjoy the magic of Christmas.
The price of the train journey includes warm mulled juice and Christmas gingerbread. In addition, Santa Claus is present on the trains to hand out sweets to all train passengers. In the train carriages, the fireplaces glow hot and makes you to experience real Christmas feeling.
Minkiö station has Christmas-themed programs and music for children and also thre oler ones.

Humppila Day is celebrated in Humppila on the second Sunday in June. Then in addition to the normal Humppila-Jokioinen museum train, special trains run from Humppila station to the Santavaihte Barbeque Place. You can stay over there while grilling and return on the next train.
The Humppila station area of the museum railway has program for all ages throughout the day: the station park offers a free bouncy castle (weather reservation), a Mölkky game, croquet and a nice get-together, for example having a picnic. On the station's tracks you can try hand car rides. The station’s café is open all day.
There are steam trains running on Humppil Day between Humppila station and the Santavaihde Barbeque and Picknick Place. The first train of the day at arrives Humppila at 9.55 and the last train leaves at 16.20. The price of the pendulum train ride to Santavaihde is 7 e for an adult and 3.5 e for a 4-12 year old child. You can also travel by train on the Jokioinen Museum Railway day ticket.
The day's schedule also includes longer diesel train journeys to Minkiö and Jokioinen according to the museum museum's normal schedule.
In addition to train traffic, Humppila station also has a café and railway equipment on display. The steam locomotive also stands during breaks in front of Humppila station and is on display to the public.

The operations of the Museum Railway Association, which maintains the Jokioinen Museum Railway Association, are based on the voluntary work done by the members of the association. In addition to train ticket revenues, our operations are financed with grants and donations.
The museum railway will continue to operate during the winter, even if the trains are not running. During the winter and spring, the Loviisa-Wesijärvi railway conductor and III class passenger car number 52, Schöma diesel locomotive and steam locomotives will be repaired on the museum railway. In addition, the Loviisa-Wesijärvi railway Ljusne-Voxna motor trolley and the Jokioinen railway moped dresin are under renovation. The lights in the Minkiö workshop also need to be repaired, as more than 75% of the old fluorescent lights have broken down. During the winter, the ceiling of teh Humppila station has also been insulated and the floors on the ground floor of the workshop building have been washed mechanically. During the summer, the track work and changing of sleepers of the Humppila-Jokioinen line will continue. In addition, a project has been started to build or acquire a rail motor bus for the Jokioinen Museum Railway.
In addition to the voulntary work, money is needed to do all this. We have applied for grants for many projects, but in most cases the Museum Railway Association itself has to pay 40% - 25% of the funding.
We are once again asking the friends of the Museum Railway to help us to finish our projects with honor. Even a small donation is significant when there are enough donors. For example, if 1,000 people donate € 5 each, it will add up to € 5,000. There is power in the crowd!
The Museum Railway Association has received permission from the police authority to raise funds to finance the association's diverse activities and the preservation of cultural heritage. In addition to individuals, companies and organizations can also choose to support our operations.
In addition, you can support our activities by telling your friends about the Museum Railway and, of course, traveling on our museum train. Revenue from museum train journeys is our main source of income to fund our operations.

Christmas is getting closer and it is the time of the traditional Museum Railway Association's Christmas card. The Christmas card has been made like before by PTJ Koskinen, a steam locomotive driver on the museum railway. This years christmas card has less a winter scenery even this years Santa Claus train was running in a real winter weather with snow and up to -18 C.
August 2021 marked the 50th anniversary of Finland's first museum train ran to the public and the start of museum train traffic on the Jokioinen railway. In the summer of 2021, the DC-3 aircraft of the DC Association, OH-LCH, also honored the Jokioinen Museum Railway with its overflights.

On Saturday 21.8. The Museum Railway celebrates its 50th birthday. Finland's first museum train was run on 21 August 1971 from Forssa to Humppila.
The operations of the Museum Railway Association, which maintains the Jokioinen Museum Railway, are mainly based on voluntary work that has been done for half a century. Thanks to this work of committed enthusiasts, we have been able to preserve a piece of Finnish industrial history, local cultural heritage and, of course, the Jokioinen Railway as a living museum.

Minkiö station's summer cafe, museum and hand car rental opened their doors today and our summer season can officially begin! The cafe and museum are open in May on weekdays from 10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. You can stop by the cafe to enjoy a freshly baked waffle with whipped cream and jam. The coffee shop also has the just-published book "Museum Railway 50 years", which tells the story of the Museum Railway from the beginning to the present day.
