The first steam train of year 2009 was a work train pulled by an ex Äänekoski-Suolahti Railway H.K: Porter steam locomotive. The train was used to collect unused sleepers of the last autumns track work and to test drive the locomotive which was overhauled during winter months. The new injector and the new steam break valve performed very well. The improvements made to the exhaust system improved steaming a lot.
