The ex-Äänekoski-Suolahden Railway American H.K. Porter steam locomotive passed today its internal boiler inspection. During this autumn a newer bigger size 5 Stenberg injector has been put on the fire man's side of the locomotive and the old malfunctioning break valve has been changed to a model Tampella valve as the old valve was not very easy to use.

Work has been going on during past two weeks to repair the foundations of the red wooden warehouse at Minkiö station. The foundations had moved and the building was in danger to drop off the foundation. The new foundation was completed by H.E. Kallioinen from Jokioinen. At the same time french drains were installed under the building. Next year the aim is to continue with the project by painting and fixing the building itself.

This autumn's track work at Jokioinen Museum Railway is over. Tracks at Minkiö station and at Raemäki halt between Minkiö and Jokioinen were rehabilitated. The work was completed in schedule and in 2009 the trains will roll on much better railway.

Track work of this autumn at Jokioinen Museum Railway is advancing fast. In mid October the Museum Railway Association dismantled the tracks to be renovated at Minkiö station and about 70 meters of mainline near by Raemäki halt. On Monday 20.10. the VR Track started rebuilding tracks at Minkiö. This work has been advancing rabidly. The aim is that the work will be finished in two weeks time.

The last charter train of the year ran on Saturday 27.9. The train was pulled by two of the vintage Move 21 diesel locomotive of Jokioinen Museum Railway. The steam locomotives were already prepared for winter the week before after the Star Light Train.
This autumn the track work funded by the Ministry of Transport and Communications will continue for the third year. Now it is the time to rehabilitate track 2, 3, and 4 at Minkiö station and also the track on Raemäki hill between Minkiö and Jokioinen. The work is done by the Museum Railway Association and VR Track Ltd. The Museum Railway Association is responsible of dismantling old tracks and delivering materials (sleepers, ballast, etc) to work locations and VR Track of building and xxx of the new tracks.
The track work will start the coming weekend 3.-5.10. and all the work should be completed in November weather permitting.

The renovation of the Kuusankoski-Voikkaan railway is advancing fast. With a significant grant of the Kymin Osakeyhtiön 100-year trust the work has been going on already for four weeks. The first coach is already dismantled and the metal frame has been sand blasted and painted in the beginning of February. Now the wooden body frame starts to be completed and next week work on the roof and walls will be started.
After the first coach is finished it is planned to start the renovation of the second coach. Boath coaches should be in operation in summer 2009.

The last charter train of the year was running on Wednesday 24.10. This train was also the first train to run on the newly rebuilt Minkiö yard and to cross the new Jokioinen level crossing. Track work of this autumn included rebuilding of platform tracks 1 and 3 and part of the track 2 at Minkiö station. At Jokioinen station the level crossing of Humppila Road was rebuilt.
The charter train operated made laso history in being the first train double headed by Move 21 diesel locomotives in 35 years. The train was hauled by the locomotive 3 of Jokioinen Museum Railway and the one without number "The one from Karkkila" (owned by a member of Jokioinen Museum Railway).

Track work of this autumn started in the weekend 1.-2. September with dismantling some track. The rails and sleepers of the track number 1 at Minkiö station were completely removed. On Sunday 2.9. track on both sides of the Humppila Road level crossing at Jokioinen station was dismantled. This was in preparation of rebuilding the level crossing.
The Star Light Train on 15.9. will be running normally using the tracks 1 and 2 at the Minkiö station. When rebuilding the Humppila Rad level crossing at Jokioinen a detour has to be constructed for the road traffic.
The trackwork of autumn 2007 is funded by the Ministry of Transportation, Jokioinen Museum Railway Ltd an the Museum Railway Association. The work will be done in addition to volunteers of the Museum Railway Association by VR Track and Soraset Yhtiöt Oy.
