The reparation work of Saustila culvert on Minkiö-Humppila line will effect the timetable of the Autumn Colors special on Saturday October 4th. Because of the extent of the work the board of the railway decided on Thursday August 28 to change the timetable. The Autumn Colors Train will run only between Minkiö and Jokioinen. In addition there will be one public coach connection to Humppila.
The work on the culvert will start immediately after the Star Light Train running on September 20th. The renovation should be ready later in autumn. The aim of the work is to renovate over 100 years old stone culvert and stabilize the embankment on top of the culvert.

During the last two weeks a TV mini series written by Laila and Eve Hietamies has been filmed at Jokioinen Museum Railway. The series tell a story of a family evacuated from the Finnish Karelia during the Second World War. After a long trip on-board an evacuation train the family is trying to settle down in small village in Western Finland.
The railway scenes of the series are filmed at Jokioinen Museum Railway. The evacuation train is built up using old box and flat cars and the ex Lovisa-Wesijärvi railway steam engine number 6. The mini series will be shown weekly on TV 1 (Finnish TV) starting from the 1st of December 2003.

The 2003 scheduled steam train traffic of Jokioinen Museum Railway started on Sunday 1st of June. The opening ceremony was held without speeches. The sunny opening day had a large number of old automobiles gathering at Minkiö station. There was also an old tractor and Sampo treshing machine on display at Minkiö station.
The scheduled steam trains will be running in summer 2013 on every Sunday in June, July and August and two Saturdays in September and October. You can find the timetables on Timetable page.

In September - October 2003 several culverts on line Minkiö-Humppila will be repaired. During the work starting on Sunday September 21st and ending on Friday October 3rd there will be no charter train traffic between Minkiö and Humppila. The work does not effect traffic on line Minkiö - Jokioinen which continues as usual.
The work starts immediately after the night of Starlight Train on Saturday September 20th and the line will be back in operation for the Autumn Colors Special running on Saturday October 4th.

The operating season 2003 started on Saturday 3.5. with the first charter train of the year. In May charter trains will operated for groups and the scheduled traffic will start on Sunday 1.6.2003. Total of 14 390 journeys were made at Jokioinen Museum Railway in 2002. The number is 17 % up from the figures of the previous year. There were 17 days of scheduled passenger traffic. In addition to scheduled traffic charter and work trains were operated. Total of 315 passenger trains and 89 work or goods trains ran during the season.
The number of journeys is the highest in the history of Jokioinen Museum Railway since reopening of the Humppila-Minkiö line in 1994. In that year total of 16 000 journeys were made.
The operating income kept growing in the style of the last years. The charter train sales broke all the previous records. The increasing income is needed to cover the operating costs and loans of the new Minkiö machine shop.
There were six days with special events in the operating season 2002: The opening of the operating season, Humppila Sunday market, Minkiö farmers' market, Train to Continuation War, The day of museum railway, and Minkiö harvest market. The most popular event was the train to Continuation War, with almost 1400 journeys were made. In addition to these events the traditional star light train was very popular. These trains were completely sold out.
The renovation of JR 65 box car has been completed in the Minkiö workshop in December. At the moment there are two bigger projects going on in the machine shop: re-painting and service of the JR 3 passenger coach and renovation of Äänekoski-Suolahden railway Porter steam locomotive. Both projects are expected to be completed during year 2003.

Martti Virtanen, an entrepreneur from Riihimäki, was elected as the president of Museum Railway Association. He will succeed Mr Antti Välkki who has been the president since 1998. Mr Virtanen has served before as the vice president of Museum Railway Association. Pekka Välimäki, a museum assistant of the Finnish Railway Museum in Hyvinkää was selected as a vice president. The new board was appointed in the annual autumn meeting of Museum Railway Association at the Minkiö depot of Jokioinen Museum Railway.
The new president takes as his main objective to increase the amount of voluntary work made by members of the association.
- Our association has at the moment over 700 members all around Finland, but only small amount of members takes part in running the railway. Our main objective is to internally market the possibility to help to run the railway by attending our work sessions. The recently completed new workshop and accommodation building makes it easier to attend the sessions, even in winter time. We like to also mention that everybody is welcome. There is something to do for everybody regardless your age, education or sex, Martti Virtanen is saying.
Ms Lea Harjula, a bank official from Jokioinen, was elected as a new vice member of the board. Mr Juha-Pekka Viitanen from Jokioinen, Mr Janne Rutonen from Hämeenlinna and Mr Lauri Niemi from Vantaa continue in the board. Mr Marko Tuominen from Jokioinen continues as a secretary and Mr Olli Virtanen from Kirkkonummi continues as a treasurer.
The largest single project of the Museum Railway in 2002 has been finishing up and furnishing the new work shop at Minkiö. The heated work shop has been making the renovation of rolling stock easier, because the work can be done now off season in winter time. The shop is been currently fitted with machinery for both wood and metal work. At the moment there are three locomotives and one railway carriage in the shop under renovation.

The autumn colors train which ended the operating season of Jokioinen Museum Railway was operated on Saturday 5.10. with especially winterly weather. There was a heavy snow fall night before and in the morning there was 21 cm of snow in Jokioinen. The snow did not disturbe the train traffic and all trains were running on schedule.
The operating season 2003 of Jokioinen Museum Railway will start in the beginning of May. The scheduled suday traffic will start in the beginning of June 2003.
